What We Do
Progression Routes

We are committed to providing progression routes for talented young people on our courses; every participant receives a flyer (pictured) on which these opportunities are actively promoted. The progression routes are intended to assist young people to improve their employment prospects and to give them an incentive to excel on their course.

Music & Media Scholarship
All young people can apply for our Music & Media Scholarship, a discretionary scholarship to attend more advanced and longer-term courses at our state-of-the-art music college in Hoxton or at our innovative online music college.

Three-Tiered Work Placement Scheme
Our Work Placement Scheme gives committed young people the chance to join Point Blank Tutors and Assistants on projects from our community portfolio. After gaining on-the-job experience, they may progress to paid work as an Assistant Tutor and, in turn, as a Lead Tutor.

Publishing Opportunities with Universal Music
Our in-house publishing company Point Blank Music offers publishing opportunities through a sub-publishing deal with Universal Music, the largest music publishing company in the world. All original tracks produced on our courses are considered for Universal Music’s library, with the potential to earn royalties for the young person who created them.

Links with Employers
We aim to exploit our connections with industry employers to offer work tasters, company visits and work experience positions for course participants. Through Point Blank Music, we have links to advertising agencies, TV companies and royalty collection agencies. Through Point Blank’s commercial activities as a Youth Marketing Agency, we have excellent relationships with global brands such as Orange, PlayStation, MTV, First Choice, and Bacardi. Since all our tutors are industry professionals (running labels, releasing tracks, remixing other artists, engineering, producing etc.), we have contacts at major companies within the industry. For example, we source Radio Production tutors from BBC, Kiss FM and Choice FM.

Links with Education
Point Blank have a long-term goal to create educational pathways for NEET young people that extend into higher education. To this end, we are developing a portfolio of accreditation ranging from OCN and Arts Award to BTEC and Foundation degrees and we are continuously developing our links with employers and universities to enable accessible progression routes for learners. We currently have a partnership with Canterbury Christ Church University who are validating our new HNC Diploma in Music Production. The ultimate aim is that young people we engage in our community projects have the opportunity to take further courses at our college, where they will receive support to progress onto higher education if they so wish.
